Alexander is back in Norwich after spending the winter in California. While he was there, he picked up an ASEL rating in just four weeks, in this Citabria:
Congratulations, Alexander!

Hey! He learned how to fly a REAL airplane! Lookie there! No training wheel under the engine!
That's a goofy looking instructor.
...about a half hitch short of a proper tie down.
All instructors look goofy.
That airport, Reid-Hillview is pretty special and well known for tailwheel instruction. It was run for many years by an amazing flight instructor, Amelia Reid. When developers threatened, she made the case(and proved)to the voters that the airport was safer than a shopping center!
I met her in 1983 and rented a Cub there. Unfortunately I didn't get to fly with her. She died in 2001. Here's a nice bio piece: http://tinyurl.com/492wclk
How come he's wearing shoes?
I too flew out of Reid-Hillview once. I think it was about 1979. My friend Craig Catto (www.cattoprops.com) took me for my second aerobatic flight. He was taking lessons there. I think it was in that same Citabria that's in the picture.
