Santa sent a present to the club. It's 24 lbs of ballast in the form of Kennedy half dollars.
He had to send it in 2 packages. Here are the notes he sent along with them.
Thank you Santa!

Wow, that was nice of Santa. Is there a membership category for jolly elves?
is there enough for dues?
Anyone want to guess what the dollar amount is?
Mike calculated $480 last night.
Kind of expensive for ballast!
its pretty cool, someone would think of the club with this gift.
Mike is close. It turns out that over the years the Kennedy half dollar has gotten lighter since they were introduced in 1964. The actual value of the donation should be $500. The bank is counting it. I went in to Mascoma Bank in Lebanon and the tellers saw me come in and told me to dump the coins into the automatic counter. I dump all 24 lbs. The machine then started spitting a coin into the reject bin every 10 seconds or so. It turns out the machine doesn't count half-dollar or dollar coins. The coins finally jammed the machine up and the teller had to clean out the machine manually. They then took the coins to be counted manually.
The donation really helps the club out as it shows up as pure profit in our books.
P.S. as ballast goes its about $21 per pound. About the same as a very good steak.
Lead shot goes for about $2 a pound, so I guess we can afford some now.
Thanks, Santa, see you next year!
