Airplanes may be light, but with their tiny footprint, they seem wicked heavy on ice. I pulled a Cessna 150 out of a similar situation before, except the belly was on the ice (this Canuck should have an easier time of getting his bird free). We could walk around the plane okay, so we were able to lift it a little bit at a time by hand and slip plywood, ladders, and boards under the fuselage and wings until the tires cleared the ice and we could slip 2x8's under 'em to roll the plane away from the holes in the ice. Fortunately, the plane cracked through the ice after the engine was shut down, so the whole plane was airworthy enough to be flown off the ice and go home.

Is the brunette a great-grand-daughter of Svengali??? Just a guess...

Now that was a clever comment!
