John Good will be attempting a long ridge flight tomorrow. He is planning an early takeoff from Eagle Field in Pennsylvania and a start just north of Altoona. His turnaround point could be as far south as Knoxville, Tennessee, which would result in a total out-and-return distance of around 900 miles. Or maybe he'll land at Altoona in time for breakfast, you never can tell.
Good luck, John!

Five bucks says he gets to Bluefield WV or beyond. Wish I could join you, looks like a pretty good day.

I wouldn't take that bet. The winds look good for the southern part of the trip, if not howling. The northern part of the ridge isn't aligned very well for the conditions. The trick will be to get started and to get back.
Hmmm. No tracking data as of 0820 EDT. Is it more likely that he didn't take off or that he forgot to turn on his tracking device?
It appears he started his flight while I was typing the last comment.
He turned around at Cumberland, I think. Probably because of light winds. It's only 8 knots right now.
As of 11:45, John's trace hasn't been updating for a while. The last location happens to be about 2/3 of the way into a likely looking landable field past the North end of Tussey. University Park shows wind out of 290. 290 is pretty marginal North of Spruce Creek (next small gap North of Spot report #16) and probably doesn't work at all abeam State College.
